We had a wonderful weekend in
Las Vegas with Mike's parents. They flew in from Idaho Falls on Friday afternoon. First stop: a tour of Daddy's work! Kate got all dolled up with her necklace and purse to visit Mike at Nevada Power.

Kate at Daddy's desk-- note the "guest" sticker that we had to get when we signed in.

Hard at work!

Dinner at Elephant Bar Friday night. Kate got these paper glasses that she thought were pretty cool.

Next up on the tour: the carousel at the District! It's so
whimsical and fun! Although it was hot (around 101 at dusk) it was still so much fun to be outside at the park. It reminded us of that scene in The Wedding Planner, with the movie outdoors at the park and the carousel in the background. In
Las Vegas... who would have thought?

Kate and Daddy, ready to ride!

We then hopped on the trolley that took us back to the restaurant where we started. Kate loved it!

Kate with Grandma Sharp!

The District Trolley! Isn't it darling?

Saturday was hot, naturally. So after a morning of shopping, eating at Raising Cane's, and a much-needed nap, we hit the neighborhood pool to cool off. Kate was very intimidated by all the water toys at first, but soon got really into it! She learned how to jump off the side of the pool into our arms. She'll turn into a fish before we know it!
**Note: we couldn't take many pictures there because we were told they don't allow cameras due to perverted pedophiles! So I quickly snapped a picture while nobody was looking. What has this world come to???***

That night we took David and Lynette to one of the best Mexican restaurants in town,
Lindo Michoacan. Very authentic, and excellent service as well! We even dressed Kate up in her Mexican dress. She looked like a sweet little
senorita!

Mike and Karen,
fullllll of yummy food!

We topped off the night with concrete shakes at Nielsen's Frozen Custard---
sooooo good! Kate ate her very own ice cream cone (with a little assistance from Dad).

And yes, we couldn't have a "stay-cation" in
Las Vegas without a little bit of gambling... which was a blast! We had such fun at the Blackjack tables at Sunset Station, and I found a new slot machine that was really cute. But our bad luck prevailed yet again, and we walked away with nothing in our pockets, but a lot of fun memories! :)
Other highlights of the weekend: Sunday dinner with Ben & Jill, the burnt roast, reading bedtime stories with Kate, watching Kate be "shy" around Grandpa Sharp, driving around in our POS car with very little air conditioning in very extreme heat, Kate learning how to ride Grandma's leg like a "horsey" and all the fun talks!
Thanks so much to David and Lynette for flying down here and spending a fun-filled weekend with us! We love you guys and are so grateful for you!
Now it's Monday and it's back to work and the normal ins and outs of our life in Las Vegas. It's so nice to have such a fun city to escape to.

I love your "stay-cation"! That is so cute. You sure know how to be a great hostess and show them a good time! The district looks so cute now that it's all done. I never had a chance to go there. Way cute pool too. The pools nowadays are much more fun than the old CMS pool ;-)
"stay-cation"...how fun! Looks like you guys have been busy! Seriously, you can't take pictures in the pool? That's just CRAZY ridiculous!!!
That's a pretty awesome staycation - you guys did so many cool things! Your neighborhood pool looks pretty amazing too - although the picture thing is crazy!
