We spent a glorious afternoon in Virginia Beach, where we swam in the {freezing} Atlantic and Kate got her first glimpse of the ocean. But because of some of her books and movies like The Little Mermaid, she wouldn't go near the water, for fear of being bit by a shark!

Then she decided the beach was fun after all. 
And yes, this is how my father, the sun-lover, spent his time at the beach. Oh well. He didn't get a sunburn; I did.
