Houston {10th Anniversary}

Houston Temple

 On June 1st, Mike and I celebrated ten whole years of marriage

Wowza.  

Lots of ups and downs and bumps along the way, but it's been a great ride!
And we are very very grateful for the wonderful life we've built together.

To celebrate, we took Blake and went to Houston for Memorial Day Weekend while my parents stayed in Arlington with Kate and Dylan.

We had a lovely time!  Blake was an excellent third wheel, and we were able to spend some great time together.

Our first stop was the Houston Temple.

 Since Mike served his mission in the Houston area, we tried to find some of his old areas.  But without any addresses and with Mike's fading memory (it's been 12 years since he came home) we struggled to find much.  We did see a chapel where he went to church.  Anyway it was fun just tooling around for a while and eating at Fuddruckers (my first time).

We stayed with my awesome cousin, Andrea and her family.  They had a delicious barbeque ready for us the night we got there, and it was so fun chatting with them in their beautiful home.

Their daughter, Allison, was so cute with Blake.  She'll make an excellent babysitter one day.

NASA

We spent seven hours at Space Center Houston that weekend.

It was great fun!

Tours of Mission Control, a stop at the rocket park, movies, displays, and demonstrations kept our interest all day.  Blake was a champ!  I slipped away to feed him a couple of times, but the rest of the time he contentedly let his parents wander around the museum.

And I came away with the uncontrollable urge to watch Apollo 13, which we did just the other night, along with The Right Stuff which we had never seen but thoroughly enjoyed!

After NASA, we drove to a little town Danielle recommended called Kemah.  It was a darling little place down on the Galveston Bay with rides, restaurants, and shops.  The weather was really nice, and we enjoyed wandering along the water, taking in the sights.

The next day we slept in (yay!!!) and drove downtown.  Since it was Memorial Day, all the business offices were closed but we stopped outside the Chase Tower, which, at 75 stories, is the tallest building in Texas.

It was a great little getaway with my cute husband (and cute baby tag-a-long).  We talked a lot about goals for the next ten years and beyond, laughed at fun memories and gave thanks for all the blessings we enjoy.

I love this guy.
