We had such a great time over Thanksgiving!!! My parents went out of their way to make everything so wonderful for us. The whole family (minus Elder Brian) was there. We had a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner, played games, spent a day at Zion, and did some fun festive things around Cedar, including seeing the movie "Enchanted", watching the Storybook Parade down Main Street, and my favorite, the Festival of Trees. We took tons of pictures... and will post as soon as we get our act together and put them on the computer. But at the Festival of Trees, we managed to get Kate close enough to Santa to take her picture. Since she's not a fan of sitting on any lap, much less a big man with a white beard, this was the best we could do. No smiles, but at least she was polite. When Santa gave her a candy cane, she said "thank you" in this meek little voice. It was soooo cute!!!
Kate was okay as long as Mike and I were around. But when we tried to get a solo picture, it all melted.
Santa was very sweet, though, and was really cute with her Oh well. Every kid has to have one of these pictures, right? Why do we do this to our kids?
In any case, I'm so excited for the Christmas season! We did so many fun Christmasy things while we were in Cedar. The coolest thing of all was our gift exchange. Since June, Mike and I, along with my siblings, have been scanning 35mm slides that my mom and dad have had for years. They have thousands of these slides! So earlier in the year we bought a slide-scanner off e-bay, and every single night we have been scanning slides. So over Thanksgiving, we gave my parents a disc with nearly 2,000 slides on it! It was so neat! It was fun to look at all the slides with my parents and reminisce about all the fun times our family has had over the years. Since there are about 3,000 more slides to do, we will be busy for the next year! We told my parents this is a gift that will keep on giving. We don't mind. It's been fun for us to do this for my parents. And since we won't be with them for Christmas, we wanted to give it to them when we were all around. They're going to be all by themselves this Christmas, as all of us are spending the holiday with our spouses families. So they're taking a long trip, just the two of them. Poor empty-nesters!
Mike and I are thrilled to be going to Idaho Falls for Christmas!!! It will be so much fun spending the holiday with all the Sharp clan, and the grandkids, cousins, etc. Kate needs to spend more time with her cousins! She's the youngest of 5 grandkids on the Sharp side. It will be a blast!!! We can't wait to see everyone!
