One year has passed since Ryan's death. It still seems surreal that he's really gone.
Gone, but definitely not forgotten.
While in Idaho, we visited Ryan's grave with the new headstone designed by Mike's dad.
It's really lovely.
Interestingly, there is a giant display honoring fallen soldiers at the DFW airport (C gates, C-2)
Our neighbor who works at the airport told us about it, so before we caught our flight we went over to see it.
It's very comforting to know that these men and women are not forgotten.
It's our job to make sure that we teach our children about their sacrifice, and what an honor it is to live in a free country.

amen. appreciate this post. the headstone is gorgeous. i'm so sorry for mike's parents that they had to even think about something like this. i can't believe it's been a year. :(
